Sissala East Municipal: Rainstorm Wreaks Havoc in Tumu Town and its Environs

A sweeping storm accompanied by little rain has brought about destruction in some parts of the Sissala East Municipal.

The disaster took place on the night of 28th April, 2020 lasting for more than an hour. According some residents, this particular experience is unusual and therefore very scaring to contend with.

A sudden storm seemingly emanating from the Upper East Region sweeping across carried in it a heavy wind which could carry a human left its victims running helter skelter  especially Muslims who had just returned from night prayers after the day’s fasting.

A stroll around the Tumu Township shows a severely damaged accommodation of a female tutor at Kanton Senior School, a partial ripped off latrine belonging a lonely 84 year old woman, a few sign posts, severely damaged shelter for fowls belonging to a tutor at Tumu Senior Technical and so forth. Trees were equally not spared in this Disaster.

There was however no report of any injury as at the time of filing in this report. This happened as at the time many had not retired to bed.

Speaking to some victims, they have made a passionate  appeal to government for support as the fight against coronavirus has had toll on their meager income by rendering them out of business.

Information reaching this portal indicates that, a team from the Municipal Assembly visited few of the affected areas ostensibly to come to the aid of the victims identified.

Many residents were heard admonishing each other to fortify their old or weak roofs as this could be a warning of more rainstorms in this rainy season.
