There is uneasy calm in one of the second cycle institution in Sisaala East Municipality called Tumu Senior High Techinal School as students vandalize properties and threaten mayhem on teachers.
Resident of Sisaala East Municipal waked up to unrest in Tumu Senior High Technical as aggrieved students resorted to settling scores by vandalizing school properties and also attempted unleashing harm on some teachers. This chaos happened a fortnight ago which led to mass fleeing by students to seek refuge as security apparatus was called in to keep calm the situation.
The unrest said to have triggered by reasons as mass seizure and destruction of mobile phones used by students especially WASSCE candidates even in examination hall and also the threat of calling for cancellation of already written papers by final year students.

The night anarchy deepened when students amidst flying stones broke into teachers bungalows and vandalize their belongings, vandalize louver blades of the whole of the seniors block, ransack the kitchen store and made away with some food stuffs, vandalize an old school pick-up truck, let loose the head teacher goats, and ran after teachers and armed police persons with stones and sticks. Whilst the armed police personnel were trying incessantly to keep calm the chaotic scenes almost all the students both innocent and perpetrators fled the campus to seek refuge in nearby homes while others fled into the bush.
The development was a replay of what nearly culminated into the murder of a teacher on duty last year when, he seized mobile phones belonging students and had refused to give them back. For the timely intervention residents around the campus the said teacher would have been murdered as he was hotly chased with every weapon students could lay their hands on.

The municipal Chief Executive in the person of Hon. Karim Nanyua together with an entourage of members of the Sisaala East Education Service, heads of security agencies including members of a military detachment station in Pulima in the Sisaala West District of Upper West Region. They after assessing the extent of damages caused by students and some testimonies of heard from eye witness teachers met with some few students’ body. The M.C.E called for calm on the part of students but was also in a haste to condemn what has happened. He bemoaned the situation and said ‘’your attitude is a disincentive to government allocating more projects to your school as you keep damaging the few that you already have. He also categorically stated that, culprits of these heinous crimes would not go scot free but would bear the cost to serve as deterrent to others.
Representing the G.E.S; Mr Mutawakilu Fasasi also expressed his displeasure by the development and has charged the students to be forth coming with vital information on the real perpetrators of the incident as that would help exonerate most of them from crimes.
The head teacher of the school, Mr.Abass Wiyor who was out town but got his bungalow visited and belongings vandalized by rioting students took his turn to address the students. In his address he called for cool tempers and has urged the remnants students to call on their colleagues in hide outs to come back to school especially the final year students who have a paper to write in the afternoon.
This encounter with the students’ body happened after a crunch meeting by stakeholders to see the way forward. According to deep throat sources, authorities have settled on closing down the school but will make provisions for the WASSCE candidates to write the remaining papers.
There have been frantic efforts by authorities to have the students back to campus by even engaging Radford fm and .N.C.C.E to announce to their hearing of the general public and student body that, there is calm in campus and they should report back.
