Sisaala East Municipal to Benefit from a Multi -Purpose Soya Beans Processing Factory

The Sisaala East Municipality in the Upper West region of Ghana is about to get its share of the government flagship policy of One District! One Factory!

This new development was contained in an address delivered by the Sisaala East Municipal Chief Executive; in the person of Hon. Karim Nanyua.

According to the MCE, a feasibility studies was under taken and the reports reaching him indicates that, the above mentioned project will commence very soon.

Meet the press series is to give an opportunity to various Municipal and District Assemblies across the nation to account for their stewardship and also communicate future development plans to the citizenry.

It was in light of this, the Sisaala East Municipal held its turn of the meet the press on the 7th November, 2019. The event, hosted at the Municipal Assembly Conference Hall in Tumu had attendance from different brackets of bodies in the Municipality.

The event saw much attendance and key among them were, the Deputy Upper West Regional Minister Mr.Amidu Issahaku Chinnia as the guest of honor, various heads of departments, representatives of the traditional authority, reps of NGOs,the clergy, youth groups, general public and the media fraternity in the Upper West Region.

This, he said the area has enjoyed relative for some time now as it used to be the hub of petty thievery, armed robbery and all manner of crimes. The MCE indicated that, the Police is still investigating the where about of the prime suspect behind the murder of a young guy in Tumu town somewhere in the month of July this year. He also mentioned a number of supports accorded to the security services and however, pledged continued support from his outfit to the security apparatus in the Municipality. He ended on this by; charging people to report any suspicious persons within the Municipality as activities of terrorist in neighboring Burkina Faso is still rife.


The MCE enumerated number interventions undertaken and those in the pipe line which seek to boost the sector as relatively, about 80% of the populace are into farming. Key among them were, the distribution of cashew seedlings to farmers, distribution of animals for rearing to disabled persons, Planting for Food and Jobs fertilizer made available, the recent handing over of site meant for the construction of a warehouse, One village One dam on going in some communities and many more.


Under this sector, Mr. Karim Nanyua mentioned interventions such as, the walling or fencing of the Municipal referral hospital, handing over of some completed health centers in various communities, lobbying for an ambulance from a philanthropist to cater for emergency health care, purchase of anti -snake serum for the Municipality and so forth.


The MCE made it known on that, a number of government’s intervention in the area of education includes infrastructure development in the form of school buildings located in various communities, supply of furniture, recruitment of many teachers to solve the issues of teacher deficit, the increase of capitation grants thereby increasing enrollment and so forth.


With this, he disclosed the formation of a Municipal Sanitation Committee who will coordinate sanitation issues in the Municipality. He talked of institutionalizing sanitation day which on be on every first Saturday of the Month.


The press was briefed on a number of communities that have benefited and those yet to benefit from the connection to national grid. Communities such as Wuru, Tanviele, Gbenebisi, and Santijan


According the MCE Hon.Karim Nanyua, plans are far advanced to tackle an appreciable number of roads in the Municipality with emphasis on the most deplorable and much talked about roads.

The representatives of the media present had opportunity to ask questions emanating from the presentations made at the event and answers were sought from the Assembly.
