We the family and friends of Rasheed formerly a resident of Kuntah,a suburb of Wa and also a former Physical Education tutor at Wa Secondary Technical Senior High School have read with dismay a defamatory publication on your online news portal called UpperWestMedia.Net on the 03 rd of February, 2019 with caption ”Wa Sec.Tech:Sports Teacher ”Removed”for Allegedly Aiding Students Possess and Charge their Phones’’ and has since gained prominence on Facebook.
We therefor wish to express out heart felt disappointment and shock for your defamatory story about a gentleman who has jealously guarded his integrity for time being now as a well-trained Physical Education tutor. We see your action without justification as image denting but nothing less. Our search indicates that the online news portal is being managed or edited by one Mr. Elivis Philip and has his phone number attached to the blog.
TRUTH BE TOLD
Mr. Rasheed a former tutor Wa Secondary Technical Senior High School was transferred to Lawra Senior High School on 19th September, 2018 because his services were badly needed to revitalize their sports.
We wish to state unequivocally that, no records wherever indicates that his transfer was on disciplinary grounds. Granted that, the content of the story is true let us answer these questions:
How come the students are usually allowed out of the well-built fence wall and mounted by security men?
Why were they said students not punished when they were found culpable?
Why was the master not invited for questioning?
What is the correlation between head teacher charging unauthorized PTA levy got to do with Rasheed?
How come Regional Education Service has no records of such?
We see it as unprofessional, malicious and amateurism for a journalist to down-play the ethics of the journalism and hence felt reluctant to cross check facts such as interviewing the senior housemaster of Wa sectech or the head teacher and even the GES before putting out such story for public consumption. WE only see this as an architect of a half-baked journalist who is out there on character assassinations spree but nothing close to journalism.
Based on this, we humbly ask the editor and publisher of the said story to retract and render an unconditional apology and also ensure it get same prominence the story had.
Failure to do the needful in three days time would leave us with no option than to file a law suit at a competent court of jurisdiction.
