Pupils of Dimanjan Basic School study under dilapidated structure for many years and this poses a serious danger to the lives of these children.This life threatening situation leaves them with no option but keep them using the near collapse structure to house some classes.
Dimajan is a farming community which is about nine miles from Tumu,The District Capital of the Sissala East of the Upper West Region. The community a twin is divided by short distance and thus Dimanjan No.1 and Dimajan No.2 but these sister communities use the same social amenities and always located in between them for proximity sack.The twin communities have existed since without conflict and hence looks captivating to developers.The twin communities are Located just close to the Tumu -Bolgatanga stretch of road.
These twin communities had a taste of formal education by the year 2000 ; built by the P.T.A and roofed by Actionaid Ghana a non-governmental organization. Since the the structure that houses kindergarten 1&2,class 1-4 has not had any renovation and hence its current state.
Any time it clouds gather to rain then pupils are always asked to seek for refuge at their homes for fear of having the building collapsing.Sometimes if it is windy then teaching and learning comes to halt for fear of having the roof been reaped off.On some occasions teaching and learning have had to be disrupted whenever reptiles such as snakes are spotted beneath the walls of the structure.
Speaking to this news portal,Mr. Rasheed Buasi Borsu who is class four teacher recounted a day one of the pupil got entangled by a big snake but fortunately and miraculously was not bitten.He said is a great source of worry to both teachers and parents.Both the teachers and parents therefore making a passionate appeal organizations,philanthropists and government to come to their aid.
