Deliver us from Communication blackout; says Gandawii Communities

The Chiefs and people of Gandawii communities in the Sissala West District of the Upper West Region of Ghana have appealed to government to facilitate the availability of mobile telephone network in their 6 clan communities.

This clarion call was made at the celebration of this year’s Gandawii Naabahilime festival. This year’s theme was ’Celebration Ten Years of the Gandawii Unity and Cultural Revival’. The event was held in Sorbelle Communiy in the Sissala West District of Upper West Region and on 30th March 2019.

Reading the welcome address, the chief of Kandia, Kuoro Bamula Basinjia Chieminah III made a passionate appeal for the extension of mobile telephone services to the Gandawii communities so as to enable them join the 21st century bandwagon of communication through phone calls and internet services. They bemoaned the action and inaction of government on several pleas since almost ten years they have constantly appealed to the corridors of power for this particular remedy.

According Chief Bamula Basinjia Chieminah III in his welcome address, they believe that this government would pay heed to their call since; its implementation would deliver them from communication blackout.

He however, reiterated that failure to solve this problem will live them in state of dilemma, as teachers refuse postings to their communities due to absence of mobile telephone services, armed robbers take advantage to unleash the people with their nefarious activities and also grave effects on their students as they cannot have access to internet services for academic purposes thereby lagging behind their colleagues elsewhere in Ghana.
